300B Amp in action. It’s been long since I had a 300B around. Yet, I always found it very interesting to hear all sorts of comments about the 300B single-ended amplifiers. The vast majority of the negative comments about them are misleading in my view as very few designs out there are able to get the best out of a 300B in SE.

This DIY 300B triode amplifier project was completed by Stamou Tasos who is from Greece. This amplifier sounds very nice and clean. Yet, it has enough power to drive speakers like the ScanSpeakers without difficulties.

This is our DIY tube amplifier with famous Western Electric 300B triodes and Siemens C3g pentodes (here strapped in triode mode). It is a parallel single end

Schematics are on 4tubes.com -> Go to "tube schematics with LUNDAHL Transformers" and then choose: LEVEN. I've used the W.E. reissue 300b and it was clearly outperformed by the EML XLS, Sophia Royal Princess and the Japanese Takatsuki.

This includes the traditional 1.2A Western Electrics, KR 300B Balloons, Valve Arts, Electro-Harmonix and TJs as well as the hotter biased Emission Labs (1.3 - 1.5A from the Mesh to the XLS versions) all the way to the 1.8A KR 300B-XLS and the EML 320B-XLS at 1.95A.
