Opera San Jose’s streaming production of “Three Decembers” is a winner in the COVID sweepstakes. Three Decembers is taken from a play titled Some Christmas Letters and tells the story of the emotional lives of three people: mother, adult daughter and son through letters and phone calls during three Decembers in three different decades of their lives. Accentuated by Heggie’s sophisticated and accessible music, Three Decembers will appeal to both lovers of musical theatre and opera. The production premiered at Houston Grand Opera in 2008 with famed soprano Frederica von Stade in the lead role and has since been produced all over the country by opera companies both large and small. Three Decembers will perform on Oahu at the Hawaii Theatre Center (March 24, 25, & 26).
